AP Science Courses?

Please read this and help me out!

I’m a freshman in high school and I’m trying to figure out what sciences I should take in future years. I’m currently in my school’s “Health Academy” that puts in me in a specific science course each year: Biomedical Science, Principles of Biomedical Science, Human Body Systems, and Medical Intervention. These will count toward my required science years to graduate, however, none of these are AP or Honors courses so I plan on doubling on sciences in the next three years. (I’m currently taking Biomedical Science which is equivalent to Biology.)

My plan is:
Sophomore: AP Biology + Principles of Biomedical Science
Junior: AP Chemistry + Human Body Systems
Senior: Honors Physics + Medical Intervention

This seems about right, however, I’m actually not that great at science. I know if I put in effort I can do well but I’m afraid I’m not capable of handling AP science courses. I’m doing fine in my biology class this year though. I’m just afraid things with get intense in the AP sciences. It’s so ironic that I’m in health academy if I lack so much in the relating subjects. However, I’m much better at math. I’m currently take pre-calculus and will be taking AP Calculus next year… if that helps. I think some of these courses have to do with mathematics, like chem.

This probably has little to do with college admissions but I want to take advantage of the few AP courses offered at my school. Also, I want to major in something that will lead to a career that will helps others, most likely involving science and I hope, math. By the way, there’s an engineering academy at my school but as I said, I want to pursue a career that will help others (and somehow incorporate mathematics) and I don’t feel like that will help me achieve that goal. This discussion is branching off to so many other things but basically:

Is AP Biology and AP Chemistry hard? Which one do you take first? What grade do you usually take them? Is it very very hard if you aren’t great at science?

If I’m not so great/interested in science right now, will I be more in the future? I thought about for a while that perhaps this is because I really don’t have an interest in science, but in actuality, I’ve never taken a “real” science class until this year. (In middle school, I had a very lacking teacher.) Biology right now isn’t difficult or anything, but I’m simply concerned that since my passion for science isn’t exploding, I won’t be able to do well in rigorous science courses.

Sorry for this very unorganized rant. This kind of stuff is probably because I’m still young and trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. At the end of the day, it’s just a class.

Does your school let you take AP bio and chem without taking the regular classes first?

You should work with your guidance counselor to create a schedule that works best within your HS.

What post-graduation goals is the “health academy” program intended to prepare for?

Seems like for going to college (whether pre-med, other health profession, or otherwise), it should include biology, chemistry, and physics (not necessarily AP) as preparation.

On the other hand, if you do not particularly care for science, are health professions really the best choice for you. If you have strong math skills, there could be other college and career directions that you may find more appealing.
