***AP Score Results Thread 2016-2017***

@savagestudent7 still take Calc BC. It should be fine. I just think that this AB test was a bit more difficult than usual. My BC teacher is really kind and understanding, and I know she’ll help me through it. If your teacher isn’t like this, don’t bother with BC, but I hope that he/she would be able to help you. You did well on your other tests, so don’t let it get to you. Based on the scores of your other tests, you probably aren’t going into a STEM field, so don’t stress too much about this score. I’m wanting to major in English, so I’m not freaking out too much. Remember that BC counts for more than AB as far as college credit goes. There’s always hope!

@Ambrosius Yeah I agree, I just really need to try next year! Also does anyone know anything about AP scholar awards. So for distinction it says you need to take 5 exams and get a 3 at least on all of them with a 3.5 average on all exams taken. So I got a 4 or above on 5 exams this year, so would I still qualify for this award? My average I calculated was a 3.7.

5 on Bio!

(Probably 1 raw point above a 4 lol that test was HARD)

Chem: 4 (Honestly I have no idea how, I didn’t know how to do most of the FR but MC was okay so I expected a 3 or even 2)

World History: 4 (As expected, felt very good about the SAQ and DBQ but not so well on the LEQ and thought the MC was okay)

Overall I’m very glad about my scores since this is my year taking AP classes hopefully I can keep up with this next year

AP CSP: 5 (If you want an interesting straightforward AP this is it)
AP Gov: 4
AP Lit: 4
AP Drawing: 3 (probably because I switched concentrations halfway through the year and only had 9 works total for that…)

Human Geography: 5

I was so sure I got a 4, pleasant surprise. That first FRQ though…

DD’18…

Previous results
AP Human Geo (FR) - 4
AP World Hist (SOPH) - 3

2017 Results
AP Eng Lang - 4
AP Psych - 4
APUSH - 4
AP Physics 1 - 1 =)) Clearly she is not going to be a Physics major. FYI…writing the lyrics to Hamilton on your FRQ will not earn you a passing grade.

Chem: 4
World: 4
Lang: 4
Calc: 5

@Wingsofdawn good job! i don’t get my score back til the 8th, but i hope i got a 5 too

classes:
Euro: 5
Microecon: 5

self study:
World: 5
Macroecon: 5

this is my first year self studying, and i’m super happy–i honestly thought i failed macro bc of the frqs but maybe the mc made up for it !

Calculus BC: 5 (my school’s calc is really hard, most people get 5’s)
Calculus AB subscore: 5
Chemistry: 4 (I wanted a 5, but oh well)
Computer Science A: 5 (FRQ’s were easy in my opinion, probably failed the MC, whatever)
Computer Science Principles: 5 (Everything was really easy, but the teacher made the class much harder than the test + tasks actually were. My teacher used the Cengage Learning practice tests…)
World History: 5 (Very surprised about this, I thought my essays were bad and the MC was hard as hell, was expecting a 2 or 3)

My dyslexic and dysgraphic son struggled with AP Stats all year, finally pulling it all together enough to get a 4. I am super proud of him because the class was hard for him and he studied a lot for the 4. It’s a shame he only managed a C average for the class.

The take away here is that what some students find easy, others find difficult, but with hard work it’s still possible to do well on the test. He will not be applying to super competitive colleges so hopefully the score gets him credit or placement wherever he ends up.

AP US Gov: 5, expected this, my teacher (one of my favorites) had already gone over both of the court cases on the last frq that a lot of people didn’t seemed to have learned.
AP Microecon: 5, ACDC econ works wonders, also shout out to a great econ teacher.
AP Research: 4, this class was so rough honestly but when it comes down to it it really does prepare you for college research…i’ll take the 4 considering I was among a class of the first students in the entire district to take this course so we had no idea what was going on the whole year (including the teacher)
AP Statistics: 5, i thought this was my easiest exam, expected.
AP Physics 1: 4, I was hoping for a 5 bc i had gotten a 5 on all the other STEM-related AP classes I had taken (this broke the streak) but when i saw the score distribution i’m actually thankful for this 4…the last frq completely shafted me and 5% five rate is insanely low lmao.
AP Calc BC: 5 - also 5 on AB subscore, my favorite class this year…great teacher. Word of advice for any students: focus, focus, focus on FRQs. Look up past ones (there are so many) and do them and have your teacher go through them and look at solutions. Knowing how to answer these FRQs and what the graders are looking for is so critical to getting that 5 I can’t stress it enough.
AP English Lit: 5, my biggest surprise lol i’ve never been all that great at english/humanities comapred to math/science, but my teacher was brilliant and I’m incredibly happy to have pulled out a 5.

Euro: 3 :///
I was expecting at least a 4 because I actually did the homework that was assigned but many people who didn’t even read the textbook did better than me… oh well guess who’s going to retake!!

2016:
Chem: 5
World History: 5

2017:
Bio: 5
Calc BC: 4 (AB Subscore: 5) – I expected a lower score. The exam FRQs were way too hard for me (had Form E), and I had barely learned how to do Maclaurin/Taylor series 3 days before the exam. Not a recipe for success.
Lit: 5
APUSH: 5
Comp Gov: 5 (self studied)
Human Geo: 5 (self studied)

So glad I’m only taking 3 exams next year, i found 6 to be too much to handle

Calc BC: 5 (AB sub score: 5)
Lit and Comp: 4
Physics C Mech: 4
Psych: 4
Stats: 5

I self-studied psych but I started actually studying it way too soon to the AP.

16-17

APES: 5
US Gov: 5
English Lang: 5
Comp Gov: 5 (self study)
Microeconomics: 5
Macroeconomics: 5

I will try to keep this brief. For APES, I had a teacher who wasn’t amazing per say (he hadn’t had a 5 before). I also screwed around a lot in his class with some of my friends, and his class was also right after lunch, so I would fall asleep occasionally. I used the Princeton review prep book and watched bozeman science videos.

For Comp Gov, I just read the Ethel Woods Coursebook and watched whatever videos were available on YouTube (hardly any).

No idea how I got a 5 on Lang; all my teacher did was play movies and lie to everyone that watching Titus Andronicus would somehow prepare us for the AP exam. I was honestly hoping for a 4 and fearing a 3.

I took Macro and Micro online and really enjoyed both of them. I live in Illinois, so I took them through IVS. Also, I used ACDC Leadership’s Ultimate Review Packet and videos for preparation. I highly recommend his resources.

AP Human Geography: 5 (self-studied)
AP Statistics: 5

Only actually started studying for HUGS two weeks before the exam, and that first FRQ was terrible. Happy with the results!
