So I got a 5 on my AP US History Exam (top 11%), but I only got a 750 on my Subject test (80th percentile). I’m worried that the not - as - good subject test score will make my AP Score not look as good. Does anyone know how this could work?

Both are good scores and not very far apart (if both were reported in deciles instead of percentiles, they’d be in the same category…)

IF the people reading your application even notice the “discrepancy” they will likely just assume you do better on free response questions than multiple choice questions (which is a good thing).

The margin of error for an 800 on a subject is way smaller than on an AP exam, so your scores correlate…unless of course you think you near aced the AP exam. Even still, the AP test and subject test evaluate different areas, so your scores are good regardless.

Same thing also happened to my son. He got a 5 on the AP US History test and a 750 on the Subject test. He claimed that the multiple choice questions on the Subject test were more difficult than the AP’s.

750 is not a bad score on the subject tests. Both would be an “A” if they worked like grades. No worries!

A 750 is still a great score. Don’t overthink this.
