Hi, I was just wondering if universities take AP scores seriously
because some people told me that they dont really care if I pass or not.
I'm really confused about this. I mean.. AP tests are hard!
I just want to give up since people are telling me that many universities dont really look at the scores :/
Is this true? Please help!

I'm also curious as to how big of a factor they are compared to SATIIs

If you want to get credit for the course in college, you should aim for the highest score possible. But yeah, most colleges don't look at AP scores for admission...

No, they don't, but they certainly are a good litmus test for your potential. There is a girl in Canada who took 27 AP tests, and ended up going to MIT because of that.

The thing is, if you fail an AP test, it doesn't really matter. But if you get a 5 or 4 on a test that you didn't take a class for and show it to the colleges, it's a little bonus point. Although most colleges don't look at your scores as much as say, the SAT or ACT, getting good AP scores could only help your chances.

so basically, they're not essential, but can be thought of as small boosts if you score well (?)

case in point, exactly.

sry for my long and convoluted message there... :D
