AP Spanish Language Exam

Did any non-native Spanish-speakers here take the test and do well, especially if you didn't expect to? I'm still debating whether or not to take it. I'm not the typical CC overachiever-- I'd be perfectly happy with a 3, ecstatic with a 4. But until today, I'd thought I'd be likely to get a 1.

Basically, my teacher gave us a real-time AP practice exam. She's an AP summer grader and claimed she wouldn't be inordinately lenient. She gave me a 4.

I'd pretty much completely dismissed the possibility of taking the test. I've got a high A in the class, but only a cursory understanding of the material, in my opinion. When we do real-time AP multiple choice, I get half the questions wrong. I didn't see how I could get anything other than a one, but if my teacher really is as "accurate" as she claims, maybe the curve on the exam is really lenient or something?

What do you guys thing? Should I take the exam?

I don't understand why the exam is so hard for non natives. It's just simple conjugations, some writing, and speaking, no?

Could someone post up some sample questions on the test?

(for real player)

If that kid gets a 4 on an ORAL section speaking without even pronouncing vowels correctly and talking like a true gringo, I think you would do just fine.

I am in the same situation as you. I basically have this idea that I am going to get a 1 on the exam no matter what. We do practice AP stuff, and I do so terribly on those. Does anyone know what the curve breakdown is like?

I took it without ever taking an AP class (a nonnative speaker) and got a 4. But that took lots and lots of test prep.

Buy Barron's with listening. It helped me immeasurably.

Well... I am definitely NOT a native speaker. I didn't expect to do well and I got a 5. It was a complete shock! I know I wasn't great, so everyone else must have been that much worse... Practice makes perfect. (I took a practice exam with my teacher beforehand and got a 4 as well.)

Do you guys recommend any good prep books on Spanish Grammar?

Exact same situation: I was hoping for a 4, wound up getting a 5. It was a pleasant surprise considering that I'm also not a native speaker and there's zero Spanish exposure in central PA.

I was expecting a 1 or a 2, so my four was a really big surprise.

I use Eso Es! in my college Spanish class, it's a really really good workbook.
