AP Statistics Scores

Just got 28/40 on the multiple choice and on my own grading 14/20 points on the first 5 Free-Response and 2/4 on the last question. Anyone have any idea what score that projects out to? (I know you only need 75% right to get a 5)

You're in the 4-5 range, I think. Probably the 5

Thats about a low 4.

Ok...I guess a 4.

And there I was.. on cloud nine...

I don't think it's a low 4 though.

Well considering I have done 0 studying, and we haven't even reached chi square tests... I'm not soo worried.

chi-square isn't that difficult...especially with a calculator....Neb you do need to study though, or you won't get a 5 (well you could....but ya)

I know I need to study but it is somewhat reasurring to have a 4 from the get go

Wow-that's a four??? That just made my day lol-I get 34/40 MC and 14/20 FR and 3/4 for the Task

Can anyone confirm that this is true?

sorry typo....16/20

yeah crosscurrent u have a solid 5..........composite of 79.375 (u need around 68 for a 5)

Can you tell me the formula you used smder99?

sure

for Multiple Choice
its (Correct - (Wrong * .25)) * 1.125 = MC subtotal

for Free Response, Questions 1-5
they are each out of 4 pts.

(Q1 + Q2 + Q3 + Q4 + Q5) * 1.875 + (Q6 investigative task)*3.125 = FRQ subtotal

MC + FRQ = subtotal

Subtotal Ranges Scaled Scores
70-100 5
55-69 4
45-54 3
30-44 2
0-29 1

The ranges of course change year to year...so I went very conservative and rounded up on my cutoffs

Where did you get these cutoffs?

<a href="http://www.amstat.org/publications/stats/scheaffer.pdf#search='AP%20Statistics%20multiple%20choice%20section">http://www.amstat.org/publications/stats/scheaffer.pdf#search='AP%20Statistics%20multiple%20choice%20section</a>'</p>

gives the lowest composite score for 1998 and 1999 that got each AP score
for the formula I calculated the weightages based on what the AP test says "i.e. This section counts for 55% of the Section II score..."

MC * 1.125?

That doesn't make mathematical sense.
It should be 1.25, right?

40 MC *1.25 = 50 points, half the total...

I see they are pretty strict about giving full credit, and I missed on entire free response. I think I got a 3 on the big problem.

So I think I need 3s on all the other FR (the four I did and I think I did them correctly) and a 3 on the big problem along with decent MC, like 34/40 to get:

73.125... or something.
Does the cutoff ever exceed 70%?
If it does, I think my hopes of a 5 are gone.

rarely exceeds 70%
