***AP Statistics Thread 2015-2016***

@Anonymous261 http://appass.com/calculators/statistics this might be useful, but the grading curve will probably be harsher this year because the test was so easy :stuck_out_tongue:

If you messed up on calculations by inputing things wrong into the calculator, is the entire question wrong then?

@kyunghee is the grading curve similar each year? or is it different each year based on the test because apparently the people last year said the test was easy as well.

@Anonymous261 I believe college board tries to keep the curve consistent, ie. around the same proportion of people get 5 every year. But the raw score for a 5 would change each year

Hm so everyone on CC who said calculators aren’t regulated was wrong… The proctors forced everyone to put their calculators in Press-To-Test mode and all data was erased. So yeah. Cheating is obviously not acceptable.
But on a higher note, that entire test was delightfully easy.

What did people get for that one multiple choice question where it asked about the weather and the probability of her being late.

The calculator policy must be a school rule. Our calculators were not cleared or anything. I wish I put some useful programs on it, but I didn’t.

@catfanatic6 no one checked my calculator. It must have just been some centers

My stats teacher was so big on us putting equations into our calculators. He said, and I quote “it’s morally unacceptable, but so is that useless formula sheet” lol.

He didn’t really explain well how to put in certain equations so it wasn’t a huge help for me. It was a huge help for most people in my classroom though.

The curve is always around 65%. In general, people do way worse on the free response than they think they did because the scoring guidelines are ridiculously strict.

darn it…the curve is gonna be harsh on this one :/.

Multiple choice was super easy the first 20ish questions. The last 20 were pretty rough for me, but there was a crazy amount of extra time so that helped.

The FRQ was way too easy feeling that it’s making me nervous! Number 6 was the easiest number 6 I’ve ever seen. And the rest felt pretty tame too except for #3 I ran out of time to answer one part of it so I wrote an apology note for that

FRQ 6 shocked me…it was so easy

And I thought I was going to fail…:stuck_out_tongue:

how impressive would a score of 4 look?

@uncletim32 Although a score of a 4 is great, colleges generally don’t admit based on AP score. AP scores are a very very small piece in a much larger puzzle that they see of you when you apply. The difference between a college seeing a 4 versus a 5 on AP stats is very low.

Although a 4 is great and I’d have to start going to church if I got one, no college is going to be super impressed by it.

Everyone’s saying how the curve is going to be harsh on this one… but the truth is stats has always been seen as an easy test by ccers, even last year. I think the curve is still going to be similar.

@teiluuuj Is no one else here bothered by how a teacher is encouraging cheating? A teacher?? The iconic moral figure of our childhoods? And no the curve won’t be that much harsher. People on CC are just the minority of high school students who are over-anxious about everything academic.

It’s definitely concerning that he encouraged us to take full advantage of our calculators, but since no one checks them, he cant really be blamed. Plus the formula sheet truly does suck.

Yeah I’ve long realized that everyone on here thinks EVERY AP test is easy, is except for maybe this years biology!

@catfanatic6 I agree with @teiluuuj. My class was able to use the full extent of our calculators on our AP test, but the teacher can’t be blamed for that. Since statisticians have access to Google/programs in real life, should we? I really think that at the end of the day, it’s not the teacher who decides the answer to that question, but rather College Board… They don’t make you (per their website) clear your memory for that reason. The teachers are just trying to prepare you for the AP tests. A 5 for you is a 5 for your teachers, too.

also i know that #1 on the frq is supposed to be the easiest question but it’s literally a three-part question asking you to describe something and that took me like five minutes

did anyone else find that way too easy or
