I’m trying to plan ahead for next year, since I’m taking quite a few AP classes. Are there any tips that stand out on how to study for AP bio, chem, physics, statistics, calc AB, world history, and spanish? I’ve heard especially difficult things about AP physics…
Thanks
My son purchased those AP exam books like 5 steps to a 5 and just studied from there. You could ask your friends to lend you their notes so you can study the equations and foundational principles.
If you can find a thrift store with the review books, you’ve struck gold. I got a review book with an unused code to online practice material for only 3 bucks. Reading them can help you get an idea of the basics and what to focus on when you enter the class. Also, having them beforehand takes the stress away from getting them later in the year. The official Collegeboard website also has course descriptions and resources that you might want to skim through.
Make sure you review the prerequisite knowledge you need. I’m struggling in Calc AB right now because I’ve completely blanked on trigonometry. So make sure you know the basics, especially if they’re classes you haven’t taken the regular version of before. Use resources like Duolingo and Memrise to continuously review Spanish throughout the summer. It can just be 5 minutes a day, just something to keep the language fresh in your head if you don’t use it often. It’s best to be as prepared as possible so you’re not behind on day one with that many classes.
for world history…
- get princeton review’s prep book
- read through it completely
- take notes on everything
- review review review your notes; they contain essential SHE that you need to know to do well on the exam
- (not really necessary unless your teacher didn’t do a lot of dbq/saq/leq writing with you) practicing writing with sample prompts
- take practice tests
also, remember to truly understand the material. don’t just memorize it; that won’t help. just think of world history as one long long story. i got a 4 on it freshman year and only went through 1/4 of the princeton review book so if u go thru all of it i’m sure u can get a 5. gl
