AP Tests - To Take, or Not To Take.

Hey guys, I was admitted early to Yale and I was wondering exactly if I need to take any AP tests. I plan to be a cognitive science major, and was wondering if taking an AP test would do me any good.

I'm currently taking:

AP Statistics
AP Psychology
AP European History
AP Spanish
AP English Lit
AP Physics B

Gracias!

You need to take a language and getting a 5 on the AP test would act as your placement. But you could just take a placement test when you get here in the fall. If you don’t think that you can get a 5 on the AP test or you want to take another language when you get here then i wouldn’t bother to sit for the test/spend money on it.

Other than that, unless you are planning on graduating early there is no need for any of your other AP tests. Stats and psych don’t get you anything. English and physics you place yourself in what you want to take (for english they recommend the 114, 115 classes for people who didn’t take AP english and 120-129 for people who did but really you can take anything).

So i would say no to taking your APs with the possible exception of spanish, though you could just take the placement here. Also, this is all assuming you are coming here so if you are still considering other schools that have different AP policies be sure to figure those out.
