should i take ap or spanish

according to collegeboard.com, yale and other top colleges "recommend" 4 or 3 years of a foreign language. i will have taken only 2 by the end of my junior year. i think with those 2 classes, i think my senior year wont be rigorous enough. should i replace those two classes with ap ones like ap psychology? or should i stick with those spanish 3 and 4? or maybe take spanish 3 and 1 ap class?

Go with Spanish 3 and 1 AP. Although there is no sure fire way to get into an Ivy, harder classes look better on your transcript.

At least take Spanish 3. You can hardly claim proficiency without it.

Here is an idea: independently study Spanish 3 over the summer or whenever (as long as it’s before next year), and then take Spanish 4 at a local university or online. Then, take AP Spanish during the school year and one more AP. And although that may not be for everyone, that’s what I would do. Actually, that is what I did :)

hmm, thats a good idea, but im not sure if i could motivate myself to do that. i might be doing SEAP, which is a fulltime internship over most of the summer.

WannaBYalie… did you really do this because in another thread… you say you are only a freshman and got a C in math… ???

yes, this is what I did. I am a huge overachiever, but am not the greatest in math. In addition, my math class was very difficult, only four people got an A.

■■■■■! “Only four people got an A.” If you’re at the top, you’ll be at the top no matter what. B+'s are bad enough, and you got a C?! ■■■■■.
