***AP U.S. HISTORY 2015***

@Bodikbodik - As long as you have a thesis, you get a point. If you have three entire pages, it’s very hard to get under a 3, unless you didn’t write about the topic.

I wrote on the topic but I just think that my whole essay is not strong and my thesis was not very strong either so that’s why I’m worried. Everyone has a thesis in his essay but not everyone gets a point for just having it.

@suprstar16 I can’t even begin to articulate how much your dilemma sounds like mine ;D I wrote my FRQ/Long Essay (#2) in literally 20 minutes because I just sat there trying to figure out what the political standpoint was based on the documents (I ended up just giving up and tried my best to BS my way through it). Hoping for a 5, but I’m fairly sure I got a 4.

@glasshours @Bodikbodik People who have a viable thesis that addresses all points of the prompt and covers all aspects of it will get a point for the thesis. Not everyone gets a point for a thesis.

I’m going to predict the raw scores that you will need for each score. Tell me what you guys think.

Out of 180

5: 129-180
4: 108-128
3: 85-107
2: 72-84
1: 0-71

Does that sound about right?

How much would you get marked off if you forgot to cite a document in your DBQ but still wrote about it )):

@rebellaxtrix You get 1~2 points if you use a majority of the documents properly, and 3 (out of 3) if you use all or all but one of the documents.

Okay alright, because I used 6/7 but now I’m trying to remeber if I cited the last two or not. Oh well.

@RHSclassof16 isn’t that raw score a little too high? In the past years if you got like 110 or above it would be like a 5 (which is the curve included in Princeton Review and Barron’s). The new testing format (whether it is easier/harder etc. may change the curve though, hopefully favorably). AMSCO’s book kinda implied that you’d have to get 80% of marks to get a 5, which would be ridiculously hard.

@Anubis13 omg finally someone who is in the same boat i’m in. like I had no idea what the dbq topic even was, so i just focus on analyzing everything and trying to get the other points. I just had to BS my way through it! My LE was good only because it was a topic we spent so much time reviewing (by watch Adam Norris videos!) I’m hoping for a 5 but a 4 is good too!

Wrote a good four and a half pages for my DBQ and three and a half pages for my long essay, but my handwriting really sucks and it is really spaced out. I had some decent supporting details (Silent spring, Clean Air Act for DBQ, Freedmans Bureau etc for long essay). Maybe both like 7’s? Was unsure about some of the multiple choice. They were a lot tougher than the practice test. No idea how many I got right, but I got 41/55 on the practice test if that counts for anything. Short answers were good. What score do you guys think I got?

When and where does the college board release the prompts they said they would in 48 hours?

@cooldude1098, When posted, most likely here:

I just realized that in the focus on trying to get everything I wanted to say down, I forgot to explicitly state the documents I used. I used 5 documents but only opening named 2. Because of the requirements that we had, I feel like the documents I spoke about are pretty obvious but I have no clue if that’s good enough or not. Anyone know anything about this?

@blu5959 do you remember if the Garvey question asked “who supported him” or “who WOULD support him?” I can’t remember.

@suprstar16 Your class watched Adam Norris to prep?!?! That’s literally amazing. My teacher didn’t even tell us how the new test was structured nor did he teach us based on the new curriculum. He just went event by event like the old curriculum. If I didn’t watch hours and hours of Norris individually, I can easily say I would have been guaranteed a 4 (without a small chance of a 5 :)) ) And yeah, I used economic information from the first document, then I realize it was a reference document, FML.

@anubis13 we watched various Adam norris videos on certain topics. I watched a lot on my own, but we did have review sessions twice a week in which we would watch the videos and take notes. My teacher did a good job preparing us-but a lot of people in my class didn’t take it seriously-many took the test just because they were gonna fail the final

Thank God for those kids though. Bringing down the curve.

@blu5959 I think the curve will be harsher because that test was pretty easy. The new MC does not light a candle in to the old MC in difficulty. I think that if they made the curve be 110 for a 5 like they did with the old test then like 40% would get a 5.

@RHSclassof16 not necessarily. There were different forms and a lot of people, including myself, thought the MC was really subjective…personally, i think the other MC last year was easier(my friend who took it who showing me old questions)
