<p>I'm currently a junior and AP U.S History is my first AP class and I've been nervous about it, even as the year has progressed (currently a month into school). My teacher has been known for his remarkable results (95% passing rate I heard) and I trust his method 100%; yet I feel as if I'm the bottom 5%.</p>
<p>Recently, I talked to a friend who says he spends 2 hours a night studying for the class (which I thought was crazy). But it did get me thinking, what else could I do to better prepare for the test.</p>
<p>As a new AP student, I'm unexpreinced with all the prep materials and study habits exhibited bu other students. I have only been doing the work provided, which I feel won't be enough at the end of the day. I was wondering what prep materials (flashcards, books, etc) you use and study habits you've delveloped to help you with the course and succeed on the exam.</p>

<p>APUSH was my first AP class as a sophomore and it was definitely the most difficult exam for me to study for since I wasn’t sure how to study for a college class. I highly recommend looking into the AMSCO review book to study and take notes from; I definitely wouldn’t have passed the exam without it! Flashcards would probably be really helpful for making connections between events, time periods, important people and dates, etc.
I’m sure you’ll do just fine! Just make sure to study a little bit each night and make sure you understand what you’re doing in class. The exam was a lot less difficult than I was expecting, though I do know the exam has been redesigned a little bit from when I took it in 2013. Good luck. :)</p>
<p>Thanks for the suggestions ashleybear97. The AMSCO book was given to us by the teacher (and I should take more time to using it). Along with that, I have the REA Crase Course and McGraw-Hill prep books. My friend who took Apush last year said she believed the McGraw-Hill book helped her the most and I have heard good things about REA Crash Course prep books.</p>
<p>I was considering buying flashcards soon, but was wondering which brand was best, and a quantity (I’ve seen 500-1000) and if quantity matters</p>
<p>Yes, a lot of people in my class used the REA Crash Course prep book as well and they said it was very helpful! I haven’t heard much about the McGraw-Hill prep book, but if your friend said it helped her a lot then it would probably be beneficial to use along with your other ones.</p>
<p>I’m not sure about flashcards either. I made my own to go along with the book since writing things down helped me learn things easier. I’ve heard some people use Barron’s flashcards along with the AMSCO book and have earned a 4/5 with those alone, so I’d maybe check those out. :)</p>
