<p>I'm still debating if i should take AP chemistry test.
I know that NYU takes it if you get a 4 or a 5. But what if you still want to take Chem 1 for the sake of being more prepared for the other chem classes? </p>

<p>I guess it depends what you want to pursue at NYU. If you intend on becoming a chemistry major, it will allow you to gain a deep understanding of the material before you even touch it in college. If you don't want to have anything to do with chemistry in college, then it will at least fufill your MAP requirement for science and you'll have space to take courses you want to take instead.</p>
<p>The AP chemistry test is really easy.</p>

<p>Yeah......you'll probably want to take it again, but pursuing it in high school would only augment your understanding of it at NYU.</p>
<p>And for those who claim that it's a "really easy" test? You people are absolutely crazy.</p>
<p>In any case, all AP exams are worth taking. If nothing else, they give you credits, even if you can't place out of classes. Get enough credits, and you get upperclassman registration. Get upperclassman registration, and you get more power over your schedule.</p>

<p>I'm not sure how NYU does it, but there are many colleges who will give you otherwise useless credits that don't figure into your GPA. However, extra credits means higher priority. (I can't stress this enough...even though I'm not in college yet lol)</p>

<p>With NYU you will get 8 hours for a 4/5 on the AP Chemistry, which will satisfy your MAP (core) requirement in science. 8 hours is a lot -- two semesters of both lecture and lab. I have a friend who graduated a year early from NYU because of all the AP exams he took during high school.</p>
<p>Oh, but according to the site, if you take the same course again at NYU the credit won't count.</p>
<p>i took a course in a community college but its not in the state of texas. </p>
