I could care less which one people prefer to use. Something that stands out and is searchable works for me ;)

who is senator sumner of massachusetts and how is he related to the conflicts over slavery?

I'll try this one again.

Charles Sumner was an outspoken Massachusettes senator, who, after an angry speech against a pro-slavery group in Kansas, was severely beaten and knocked unconsious by Senetor Brooks, of South Carolina, I think. Brooks beat him so hard that the cane broke, and pro-slavery supporters throughout the South sent him new canes in support.

Which executive order issued by FDR legalized Japanese internment camps during WWII?

Sumner: proslavery people suck. south carolina sucks. you guys are screwing over kansas.

Brooks: how dare you! beats with cane...cane breaks

Sumner: guhhhlsdkfjlds

Southerners: whoooo go brooks! buy him canes

Northerners: noooooo re-elect sumner and distribute sumner's speech

...something like that. i think the pt is that the violence of the slavery debate even reached the senate at that pt.

oh and the answer to the potomac one was john quincy adams. bleargh.

Ok I have 2 questions..they aren't that hard but oh well

What was Seward's Folly?

What was the irony behind Jefferson's acquisition of land from Napoleon through the Louisiana Purchase?

2. What was the irony behind Jefferson's acquisition of land from Napoleon through the Louisiana Purchase?

Jefferson was a strict constituionalist, and buying land--adding to America--is not explicitly stated in the Constitution as within his powers as president.

--

Question:

What case/accusation led to McCarthy's demise?

edit: yeah, I just remembered ^^;

ey guys remember to ask questions after you answer em or the game can't continue!

Which executive order issued by FDR legalized Japanese internment camps during WWII?

Oh man...I wrote a 24 page paper about the Japanese internment camps Freshman year for American Government....but I don't remember.

** What was Seward's folly?**

buying Alaska

What was the irony of Jefferson's purchase of the Louisiana territory?

He thought it was unconstitutional.

the secretary of state under lincoln bought alaska from russia. it was considered a "folly" since people thought there was nothing but icebergs and walruses up there.

What case/accusation led to McCarthy's demise?

The televised Army v. McArthy hearings. He accused that there were Communists in the U.S. army.

New Question:
What did the Immigration Act of 1924 establish?

Well, not really, he justified it somehow in the end.

Oh!~ I just remembered the Senate case where they legalized the internment camps..Korematsu v. US right?
I don't know what was issued by FDR though that legalized it.

Edit, forgot to include question:
Which executive order issued by FDR legalized Japanese internment camps during WWII?

Which executive order issued by FDR legalized Japanese internment camps during WWII?

Executive Order 9066 (I looked it up) I knew it had 9's and 6's in it!

it was supposed to limit the amount southern and eastern european immigrants. i think it restricted immigration to 2% of the number of that particular country that already resided in the US.

Question: What are some differences between the progressives and the populists?

What was the irony of Jefferson's purchase of the Louisiana territory?

For this one...it was that he was a strict constructionist and he did not like it when Hamilton wanted to do things that were not explicitly stated in the Constitution...and then he went and purchased all this land with no one's approval...which isn't a power given to the President in the constitution. Yea he did justify it and look..it gave us half the US...but it was still ironic.

What are some differences between the progressives and the populists?

Progressives wanted reform and were all for labor and were actually started by those kinds of people while populists were in support of labor too but mostly in support of farmers. Plus the main populist platform was free silver..so that farmers could pay back their debt with less valuable money.

Yeah, it established ethnicity quotas based on the levels in some year I'm too lazy to look up-before all the southern and eastern Europeans arrived.

What are some differences between the progressives and the populists?

Hmmm...well, the Populists movement generally dealt with agriculture, and they never became a major party, as opposed tot he Progressives, who were generally liberal about a lot of stuff. The progressive movement led to such things as Prohibition, direct election of U.S. senetors, and suffrage for women. And they had TR's Bull Moose party... Erk, this is a tough one.

Who were Anne Hutchinson and Roger WIlliams?
