AP US history and SAT subject test studying

I’m taking the AP exam and the SAT subject test for US history next month. I know the APUSH exam was revised to center around critical thinking more and analyzing passages instead of just memorization as for the subject test. Is there much difference when studying for the two tests?
I took a diagnostic subject test and found that it was kind of difficult, as some questions ask things like: which of the following people was not a secretary of state, etc.
I have prep books for both tests but I just wanted to ask for some tips on how to efficiently study for both.

YES.
Ap exam- less focus on memorization. It’s all about reading the analysis.

SAT- RANDOM RANDOM DETAILS. STUDY WITH BARRONS OR be SHOOK at the amount of useless details that appear.

SAT 2 tests are about the most worthless tests to take, and considered the least.

AP Exam scores are worthless as well…Their significance is overrated

@CU123
SAT subject tests are required by many elite colleges. Why are they worthless?

They are the least considered, and they are not required by most elite colleges, in fact I think only Cornell off the top of my head requires them, the rest are optional including Dartmouth, Stanford, Yale, Harvard and UChicago,

@CU123
They are used to check against grade inflation. Adcom will not look favorably upon a bad SAT2 score from a student who is from a non rigorous high school.

I have had a different experience with APUSH/the US history SAT II. I studied ridiculously hard for my APUSH exam last may, and took the us history sat II the day after with only about three hours of studying for it separately. I got a 780.

@YoLolololol Maybe, but the while visiting Harvard the AO said the admission pie is made of two halves, and of the first half, “2/3 are grades, 1/3 is SAT/ACT and we consider the SAT2’s (a very thin slice if at all) the least and they’re not required”. The other half of the pie is EC’s and other things. That makes the pie.
