***AP US History Thread 2015-2016***

I personally don’t think that AMSCO is that bad, size-wise (heh). I mean, it’s a pretty big book, but it honestly doesn’t take that long to read. You could probably go through 1.5 chapters in an hour? One chapter’s about 15 pages, give or take. Despite this, I still would like to know what other books would be helpful for cramming-type review. I think I’m planning on investing in Princeton…wow, I just realized I need to get it soon! :-S

I took APUSH last year and got a 5 on the exam. I highly recommend using Adam Norris’ videos. They saved my life and I definitely felt so prepared after watching them. I also studied the curriculum framework and used REA Crash Course as well. For practice questions, I used Learnerator, which definitely helped with getting used to the format of the multiple choice questions.

I have a pretty specific question. Is it necessary to memorize what each article and amendment of the constitution is, or is it okay to just understand how it came to be and how it varies from the articles of confederation? Thanks

@tupac4 Yes, they will. I believe they now have an additional point for a more complex thesis.

I’m thinking about whether I should take the AP us history test or not. I have a Princeton sat 2 us history book and Insider sat 2 us history by Krieger( Not the Insider Guide for AP). I’m self studying. I’m a junior and school work is getting really stressful. I don’t know if it’s too much to do both.

I decided to take both tests to challenge myself. I’m screwed. What prep book should I buy for AP? Would Insider’s complete guide be enough?

Does anybody know which prep book is good for the new AP US history exam?

@jackwang0703 I took APUSH last year (2014-2015) and I used REA Crash Course and 5 Steps To a Five. I also highly recommend watching Adam Norris on Youtube. He makes videos discussing each key concept in the curriculum framework! His videos saved my life and were part of the reason I got a 5.

@suprstar16 Thank you! Which one would you recommend between those two? Do they both correspond to the new exam? Which one has better practice tests? I’m planning to get an Insiders’ complete guide but some reviews say it’s outdated.

Any tips for someone taking the APUSH test for the second time? I took the test last year as a junior and received a 3, but my college gives 6 credits for a 4. I knew my stuff pretty well last year, but probably forgot a great deal of it this year. Help?

@lazerquest use Adam Norris videos. They are a lifesaver!

Would you happen to still have all of those unit-by-unit study guides? They would help me out a lot if you would please share them with me.

^@MissKay98

Do u guys think Crash Course covers almost everything to get a 4 or 5?

Thank you.

Has anybody used 5 Steps to a 5’s 500 APUSH questions? I am doing it but it is so hard and detailed that frustrates me. I have no clue for half of the questions so far. Is the actual exam really like this hard?

I took a practice exam from the CollegeBoard, and it was pretty doable (therefore not super specific).

@bubblylaugh
Are you talking about the 2015 official practice exam which is in the new format? Thanks.

@jackwang0703 I am not sure if it was released in 2014 or 2015 (but the new format was launched last school year which began in 2014), but yeah, it was the new format.

Just wondering, where is everyone right now? We just came back from spring break and are jumping back into the Cold War, primarily Truman-Eisenhower era.
