Just read REA, considering that the exam is hardly a month off.

Just reading REA isn't the best way to prepare, but it's better than nothing. The prep book summarizes the basic events, treaties, laws, etc. so you won't have to worry about some of the mutiple-choice questions too much. But still, you'll miss out on the details and it'll be more difficult to identify historical causation, social/political/economic causes, etc. The REA itself certainly won't be that great of a help when writing the DBQ.

If you're fairly insightful, I guess you can just read the prep book and think of historical connections and causations by yourself.

hmm, i love your handle, gogolbordello. anyway....if US hist is anything like european hist, Princeton Review is a big help in making the necessary connections and stuff. The AP likes to test knowledge of trends, and your ability to synthesize info, moreso than it does sheer rote memorization of detail, which in my opinion is REA's forte.
last year for euro, i simply read Princeton Review before the test. keep in mind that i didn't do very much work throughout the year. it earned me a 5.
from what i understand, US may be a bit more detailed....so i think i may first read amsco as a safeguard, and then PR.
good luck :)

its not so hard to get a 3 on the exam.. its only around 40% i think..

reread everything and should be fine... u still have time until May 6th

I used Kaplan last year and got a 4. My friends all bought different books but personally, I liked Kaplan better than any other test book because it's to the point and it's the only book that doesn't have long chapters to read. Kaplan's organized well and doesn't give you a headache.

Last year for Euro I thought the PR didn't help at all! The practice tests were way easier than the real thing. Is APUSH better?

Used PR for APUSH and I got a 5.

Honestly, I think people who have a knack for the class succeed. Any help books just boost their chances even higher. I love US History and still remember a lot of what we studied last year. PR helped reinforce what we covered and gave me a little bit more. I had to do a lot of independent studying because our APUSH teacher is not a good teacher, but I didn't mind. I credit PR for a lot of my success on that test.
