I really want to take at least 1 AP history class or 2 at the most because I want my college application to look good. I’m really worried that I won’t get accepted to UCSD. I honestly don’t HATE History, it’s just that I don’t like it since I don’t get what’s the point of it.
So I dropped out of world History honors freshman year in the beginning of the year for 4 reasons:
Didn’t know any of my classmates and none of my friends had the same teacher. I’m antisocial and usually text my friends for help so I had no one to rely on except my teacher BUT…
I don’t like my teacher. She was ok. She gave out a lot of hw more than the other freshman history teachers. We had to takes notes her way and I didn’t like it at all because it doesn’t help me study for tests and quizzes. And all of our hw (which is literally notes) was done over the weekend.
In our high school, History freshman year was an elective so it doesn’t count as a History course that would fulfill our a-g requirements.
I wasn’t happy. I didn’t like the class and I wanted to do something fun before I reach my sophomore, junior, and senior year where it would be impossible to cram in something fun to do like art.
Therefore, I switched to art and my schedule changed just a little. I started liking school and was happy now.
So should I take AP World History sophomore year? I know I should’ve stuck with World History honors freshman year because like what everyone says, “it gets you prepared for AP”. Here’s the thing with our school and all of our history courses soph-senior year, it’s either regular or AP, no Honors. Therefore, I feel like taking regular world History is going to be really easy while AP is going to be really difficult.
Besides, I’m taking AP bio, 2 honors courses (algebra 2 & english), Dance 1 (mandatory & counts as PE), and Spanish 2.
APUSH junior year is probably not for me because I’ve heard a lot of bad things about that class. And I hated US History 8th grade.
AP Gov. and Economics is something that I’m anticipating but the thing is, I’m planning on taking 4 other AP classes that year; AP Lit, AP Calculus, AP Chem, and AP Psych, plus and advanced art class so the workload might be too much. But I don’t even know what we learn for AP gov./economics.
So which AP history class should I take? And if you experienced being in any of them, how was the workload and how often were the tests and quizzes? Any response would help a ton! thank you!
(If I don’t count any AP History classes, I will have 7 AP classes and I’m striving for at least 8)
