AP World History or World History honors

Which should I take and why?

If you’re taking APHG, don’t take either.

Have you taken AP Classes before? If so, which ones and how did you do in them?

None I’m going to be a freshman

Would you mind showing me your schedule for next year, or what you want to take?

It depends on how hard you want to work. APWH covers 10,000 years worth of history and the bulk of learning is done through your nightly reading. Personally, I didn’t think it was hard at all; if you’re able to remember and connect big ideas across each major time period you’re good. I can’t speak for Honors because at my school, they only cover the Modern Era to today throughout the year. It may be different for your school.

@TheLandofArielle : what grade were you in when you took the class? How many high school honors classes in English did you have? What other high school social science classes had you taken? Foreign language? Other humanities or social science?
How many pages of reading dis you have each night? How many for the honors class?

@MYOS1634 I took APWH my 10th grade year becausr at my school freshman are not allowed to take AP courses. That year I had English 10 Honors and Honors Chem. APWH was my first social science class in high school. However, I was in Spanish 3-4 which is the second year level. For the APWH class my teacher was gracious enough to go through and select certain page ranges to read instead of reading cover to cover. It averaged about 10-15 pages maximum with a page summary each night. I ended with a 5 on the exam. Honors english was mostly heavy on writing assignments and in Honors Chem. I literally never touched my textbook all year. My teacher taught by worksheets.

Thanks, TheLandOfArielle. I wanted OP to see how you’d gotten to the class - ie., you took it in the 10th grade, after Honors English 9, and concurrently with Honors English 10, plus you had Spanish 1-2 under your belt and concurrently to Spanish 3-4 - both of which greatly improve linguistic skills.
