I like the schedule so far. I am still debating if I should take AP World History or World History Honors. I’ve also heard that Chem I Honors is a lot of memorizing and sometimes harder than AP Chem. We have to have our next year schedule’s in by the end of February & I was looking for a couple of opinions. Thanks!
Take AP World History! I took it and it was really fun and interesting. It’s the easiest AP History class btw, so there’s no hurt in taking it. It shouldn’t be hard for you.
You need a foreign language (unless you already reached level 4 or AP)
Depending on your current grade in English and History + general GPA, you could try to take AP World History as an introduction to the AP system. It’ll be the same format for APUSH and AP Euro if you choose to take those classes so you’ll be ahead on that account.
@MYOS1634 I took Spanish I & II my 8th grade and freshmen year of high school, which should be enough for most colleges. Regards to my English and History grades, they are both As and my current GPA unweighted is a 3.6 (3.9 weighted). I like to read, but I’ve heard from multiple people who have taken any AP history-based class that it’s a lot of reading (and when you’re reading anything you’re of course going to be asked questions for comprehension) & I don’t think I can handle a lot of reading. However, I have taken this into consideration.
Many colleges require 3 or 4 units of a foreign language to graduate. Often this can be satisfied with 3/4 years in HS. The last thing you want is to find yourself in a program that requires 4 units and you haven’t taken it in years and have to start over in level 1.
I feel that AP World history is more challenging than other APs because it draws from a huge period of time throughout the whole world.
My class never got much homework (it was optional), we only had to do notes so the workload isn’t that bad. I feel that APUSH workload is a lot harder.
Stopping at level 2 and freshman year will only be acceptable if you’re aiming for directionals (FGSU, UWF, UNF…) If you’re aiming for UF, FSU, UCF, NCF, you need level three at the very least. If you’re aiming for out of state, highly selective privates, level 4 is expected.
Chem 1 honors is the first level in the chemistry sequence, which can be followed with AP chemistry. Yes it’s difficult if it’s your first chemistry class but nowhere near AP chem.
As for AP world, it’s up to you. It’s a good introduction to AP history classes and would make APUSH easier to handle because you’d know the format and expectations, but if you don’t intend to take APUSH it is not necessary.
