Ap

i just got my AP scores back recently and lets just say they weren't all 4s and 5s. i am applying ED this fall and here are a bunch of questions:

1). if i dont send my scores, will Cornell still know that I took AP courses?

2). will it matter to Cornell that I wasn't the kid who got all 5s and a bunch of credits? will it hurt that i didnt' do as well as anticipated/expected?

3). or since i chose not to submit the scores, will Cornell overlook it? (i think the answer to this is no, correct me if i'm wrong)

please answer these questions, thanks.

u don't send scores to colleges ur just applying to. Sending scores happens the summer before you go to college. Also, i don't believe that cornell's app asks for ap scores but if they do they prefer you put your score so that they know you went out of your way to take the test. Also, they look at your performance in the classroom more than test scores

1) It depends on how obvious your h.s. transcript makes it. I'm guessing any idiot will know by looking at your transcript.

2) Not sure. My opinion is that good AP scores contribute to a positive holistic image of the applicant. They're not like good SATs in that they don't function as benchmarks of a sort but they do count in some way.

3) It might be a red flag if they deduce that you took the classes but did not submit scores.

If they're 3's, I'd put them down. If you've got 1's and 2's, don't list them.

edit: Trackbabi is correct. You don't send your scores yet, but there is a place to list them on the common app.

i think ivies ask for ap scores, first of all

second, when top colleges see ap classes taken, they also look for ap test scores (otherwise, how do they know your grading curve?)

so if you got a 3 on one test and a 4 on another is it better to list it in the common app space or would it be better to not list it and just make them wonder?

list them (10c's)

They do ask you for your AP scores, but you don't send the official score report. I would consider sending them...colleges look at them to see if your respective course was "legitimate." For example, if you got straight A's in AP Calculus BC, but received a 1 on the AP test, that would seem pretty fishy to the college...grade inflation? easy teacher? who knows.

If you got low scores on AP exam, i would recommend that you don't send your scores! And don't even list them on your application!

but would colleges still know that you challenged urself w/ap courseS?

It depends how obvious your transcript makes it.

it doesn't matter if you don't want to send your scores because you can't send them. Only seniors who know what college they're going to can send them. And put all your scores on the application. I got a 4 in calc ( A in the class) and a 2 on eng lang. (A in the class) and i still got into cornell and a lot of other good schools. So your scores are def. not as bad as mine.
