My son will be moving into Bouquet Gardens this fall, after two years in a dorm room and a meal plan, this year he has decided on no meal plan, he will be getting $100 per week spending/food money. Can anyone recommend any must haves for apartment living? What keeps popping into my mind are pots pans, eating utensils, dishes etc, any help will be appreciated, I am a little nervous about the no meal plan thing, but this is what he wants to do.

There is probably a list on here somewhere. My daughter has dishes, flatware, pans ( both frying and baking). She eats out fairly often, but then will cook for a while. A microwave is essential if the apt. does not have one. I bought DD Pyrex so she could cook in it.

Also get some storage containers, a dish drainer, and a rack for under the sink.

A vacuum is great too.

You’ll also want all the cleaning supplies for the bathroom. Since it’s bouquet with the standing showers you won’t need a shower curtain but you will need the bath mats, toilet scrubber, plunger (if necessary) and all the bathroom/kitchen/apartment cleaning supplies.

Also $100/week should definitely be plenty. If your son is good about cooking food, I don’t think he will need more than like $200/month on groceries that should at least last him through breakfast and dinner every day. I normally did $5-$6 lunches on campus during the week, so in a month that was about $100-$130 dollars.
