I really didn't think the APCS A FRQ wasn't bad or who knows maybe i messed up incredibly on all of them. The MC was just daunting because i hate reading code for this and that.

lol same here karch, self studied and skipped all the marine bio stuff :[

I'm taking AP CS A on the late date.
Will the exam be harder, or similar difficulty?
if it's harder, will the curve be better?
I wont get the same exam as people who take it today right?

I took the A test. I thought the MC and the FRQ were both pretty easy. FRQ Q#1 stumped me for a bit but if you thought about it, it was pretty easy. I had to totally skip the MBCS because my teacher didnt cover it

self studied 30 minutes last night and 30 min before the test this morning
most of the MC were pretty simple, and the FRQ too
even though i had plenty of time to spare i only managed to think of 2 of the MC ones and write some dummy code for one of the FRQ ones.
ah well, anyone know what the curve is if i get 80% ish on MC and 70% on FRQ?

Yeah, after part I...top o the world....after part II...not so much...I'll elaborate in 2 days.

Wow, the AB test was a lot harder than I thought. The MC was definitely harder than the 2004 released MC exam. >_>; Plus, some of the Fish questions (which are usually easy for me) got me stumped.

The FRQ was deeeefinitely ridiculous. :( I'm hoping I passed lol

how many MC do u usually need to get right, and how many in the FR to get a 5 on the AB? a 4?

Well, the splits I gave were 24/29....although I'm feeling a 37/18 for myself, lol.

24/40? 29/40? huh...?

lol sorry

24 on the MC (uncurved) and a 29 on the FR (uncurved) for a definite 5...although I think I got a 35+ and...20-...lol.

conclusion: the AB was insanely hard?

The highest you can get on the FRQ is a 36...

24 raw score or 24 right? and how many points is the FR out of?

oh my bad, it's a 24 raw score, and the FR is out of 36, and I'm guessing I got slightly over half the number of points for FR and nearly 100% of the points for MC so I should be in with a low 5.

20- means I think the BEST I got was a 20, the worst being a 16 lol.

Does anyone know how similar it was to the relased test?

id say this was some heller hard FR...the multiple choice was about the same, so I'd put a floor for a 5 at about 67.

I'm not sure exactly how I feel about the test. Personally, I thought the multiple choice section was fairly easy. That being said, I did run out of time and left 3 answers blank. The free response wasn't the worst, but it wasn't exactly easy either. I know one of them I absolutely screwed up but the other 3 I'm feeling pretty good about. I got a 5 on the APCS A test last year so I'm hoping for at least a 4 on this one as to not feel stupid.

I feel so stupid ...

Took the A exam. MC was ok, nothing easy or hard. FRQ killed me. I've always been incredibly slow at those, and today was the worst case yet TT ... the last FRQ, I started on part B (after making up stuff for A) and realized I had like 5 seconds left, and drew a big smiley face in the middle of the page ... >>

AB test was hard. I would not call it insane. I think I 5'd it even without a curve after doing some mental math after the test. In two days maybe I can help you guys understand what you were supposed to do.

Edit:
Maybe a little number crunching will help you guys feel better about the test.
This is all freely available information just so I don't get in trouble talking about it.

They get your MC score by this equation:
((__)-(_ / 4))*1.3157=__________
# right # wrong Score 1

Do not round this number.

Next you have the free response.
(FRQ 1 + FRQ 2 + FRQ 3 + FRQ 4) * 1.3889 = _________
Score 2

Total Score = Score 1 + Score 2

AP Grade | Composite Score Range

5 |68-100
4 |56-67
3 |44-55
2 |35-43
1 |0-34

So lets say you got 25 MC answered and 5 wrong. (This has nothing to do with score BTW)
20-(5/4)=18.75
18.75*1.3157=24.669375
So if you wanted a 5, subtract 68-24.669375
Now, there is 4 multiple choice sections so:
43.330625/4=10.83265625
now, divide by the weight of 1.3889.
10.83265625/1.3889=7.799450104 average from each FRQ.
So 8 8 8 7 out of 9 on each section.

Pretty much as long as you knew what you were doing each section, you should be fine.
