Personally, I thought the test was pretty easy. But most of my other classmates didn't even put effort into trying. A lot of them christmas-tree'd the multiple-choice and wrote notes in the FRQ section about how much they hate our teacher. One kid drew an elaborate maze with a cup of Java at the end, and another drew a hand-traced turkey, but most just slept. I'm curious, is this how it usually is for most classes?

Did you take A or AB?

In the case of AB, the multiple choice wasn't amazingly difficult, at least for me. I'd wager I got 25+ right. Personally, I thought the FRQ section was INTENSE.

I took A...I thought it was amazingly easy...just the oct/hex base question stumped me because our textbook never taught us how to do that. Guess I should've taken AB =(

The majority of people in our test room gave up on the FRQ section. A lot of the A people felt that the test was pretty tough, maybe you're just meant to be a programmer.

Computer Science depends heavily on your teacher. While it isn't difficult to teach oneself how to code in Java, it IS extremely difficult to figure out algorithm analysis and Big-Oh (something you guys didn't have) on your own. Unfortunately, the majority of the questions on these tests have little to do with actual analysis of code; most of them are conceptual.

Eh, I might contact CB and ask them to withhold my score...not interested in getting a 3 shipped all over the country.

Yeah, I figured the AB test would be a lot harder because of all the extra data structures and algorithms...I was glad there was only like 1 question on the A exam that had to do with sorting, I was kinda worried about that...the rest were pretty much just simple analysis of code or checking your understanding, the only thing I regret is not studying the case study more beforehand. I'm sure you did a lot better than you think...and the curves are pretty generous, aren't they?

The curves are reasonably generous. I mean, a 3 would be okay, I guess. I was aiming for a 5 initially, but after seeing the FRQ section I decreed that a 4 would suffice.

In Computer Science A, you don't meet Satan's data structure - the tree.

FOR A, the M/C section was fairly SIMPLE.

HOWEVER, for FR, the majority of my testing room stopped working after 10-50 minutes because it was too hard. Some didnt answer even 1 question. Im hoping for a 4. 30+ on M/C. and hoping for like 15+/40 on F/R lol! I think i nailed M/C, but FR i dunno what i got, its difficult to say.

For me (The A Exam) it was the opposite way around i thought the MC were harder and i thought the FRQ were fairly easy compared to some others i've seen. The only one that stumped me was the MBCS FRQ. I'm hoping for a 5 but will be extremely content with a 4.

Trees are not Satan's data structure, at least until you go into heaps =P

I gave up and wrote notes about my teacher, then I wrote a for loop that counted from 1 to 100 then from 100 to 1. I wanted to write something more creative, but really couldn't think of anything. However, I put code on every question, which is commendable. I will probably get well, I don't know if they put dashes or a 0, but let's hope the curve is substantial.

Changed my mind to write this. Will just say it later instead.

For some of the FR questions I kinda put arrows with blocks of code to where I want it to go. do you think I'll be penalized for that?

i did that too dunkin.

definitely didn't have any spare time to spend erasing to make more room, lol

The FRQs in AB got me. I wasted 30 min thinking for a problem, only to skip it and then coming back to spend my last 5 min actually doing it.

I walked out of taking the AB exam feeling like I had just been hit in the head with a shovel. In 2 days there will be more details.

Comp Sci A
MC: not so bad
FR: stopped writing after 30 mins it was pretty hard

So we can conclude that the AB Free Response Section was ridiculous?

Good, at least I'm not the only one.

i took A...

i tried really hard on the FRQ.. but i'm sure the person who grades mine will be thinking "... what the heck is this..???"

I "self studied" for and took APCS A:

I didn't do any Marine Biology Simulation problems - I didn't learn the case study at all.
I think I got 27 raw points on the MC.
On the FRQs, I was writing most of the time, but I still only got through 1.9 of them, or 3.5 subsections - so I will get ~15 points there.

All in all, that's 27+15*1.11 = 43/44 points. I probably got a 3. Well, fuc k.

I deserve it though. My motivation is in shreds ATM - I procrastinated until last night at 10PM to begin studying. I needed a 4 or 5 to get credit @ Berkeley. :(

Edit: Sad thing is, I would have been able to get them all eventually, but I was a slowpoke due to lack of practice. I need to hire someone to whip me in the a ss & make me work.

Edit 2: Finishing those algorithms in nice neat handwriting was REALLY satisfying, though.

AB was time consuming, It was doable. Couple kids in our class finished as much as 20-30 minutes early. Everyone finished.
