Quick question...for the "tell us something you do simply for the pleasure of it" and "which department appeals to you" is it 100 words combined (both parts a and b) or 100 words each?

each (10 char)

thanks! (10 char)

also, the app says that we shouldn't send a resume in lieu of filling out their activities section...but can we STILL send a resume anyway? (in additional info, ON TOP of filling out the section)

also, does MIT mind if we send in our entire research paper? or just an abstract?

Yes, you can still send an additional resume.

Stick with an abstract. I don't feel like finding the link now, but Matt has posted about how they're not likely to be able to read a full paper.

The MIT app says they prefer you don't send in your reseasrch. Instead, they want to hear about what you learned from your project, what problems you ran into and how you resolved them, etc. They prefer you do this in the Supplemental Essay. DS spent one paragraph talking about his actual project, and the rest about his experience. He was accepted. (Ironically, MIT was the ONLY place where he didn't send his paper!)

He sent in an activities/awards/etc. resume that went into a bit more depth about some of the things he has done -- in addition to what they asked for on the app.

Agree with CountingDown- personally, I submitted my research abstract but I ALSO followed it up with a paragraph about what the research taught me, etc. I posted it on another thread.
