App Questions

K, so I submitted my ap for reg. decision but there were 2 problems with it.

a) I think Oberlin doesn't have a major in education, but in my essay I say one line on how I chose one. A math major is my second choice and i would prob double major anyway if given the choice (I wanna teach math, but have a backup career with the major in math alone). However, I'm worried that'll just look bad on the application.

b) The supplement gave a word limit, so my answer there wasn't too great (i'm horrible on word limits) and lacking in creativity. Do they take the supplement answer very seriously? I just don't know what they expect.

I guess my real question is, according to people who were admitted before, would you say these are horrible mistakes? Because I've come to like Oberlin more and more, to the point where I'm now really hopeful that I'll get in.

No, they aren't. You should be okay.

The supplement answer is very important. I can't say much more than that.

I mean...it might look like you're not as serious about the school considering you mentioned wanting to major in something that they don't have.....it might just look like you're using the same essay for everyone without really focusing on Oberlin. I think the essays are really important. This comes from someone who is a freshman at Oberlin now.

you have a good pt but... its the common application so you kindof are using the same essay, lol. Still, i should have made a copy of the application and edited, o well. I'm more concerned about the supplement; it didn't really had in any good direction unfortunately.

like I said, it's super important that you make it known that you want to be here...I can't emphasize that enough. That's like me applying here and saying how much I wanted to be a fashion design major....it'll look kinda bad...but I mean they won't stamp a big no on you because of it.
