I just submitted all of my applications last night, thinking that the ACT wasn't going to release anytime soon. What do you know: this morning I check my account and scores are out, but obviously I can't update my application to reflect the improvements .

I've requested score reports be sent to my RD schools, so I know that they'll see the scores eventually, just not on my app. Is this a disadvantage in any way or should I just chill and be happy about finishing apps?

“In order for your application to be considered complete, we must have official test scores submitted directly to Harvard by the testing agency on your behalf”

They don’t really look at what you report, actually. It’s all on the official score report. The only time when you should IMMEDIATELY make a change to your application (like call them up, email their fileroom, all that jazz) is when there’s an augmentation between your official scores and what you report. For example, if you get like a 700 on an SATII but you accidentally report a 730, while they’ll only go by the official scores anyways, you should fix that so they don’t assume your silly mistake was a malicious lie.

That being said, once you get your link to the applicant portal, you can actually update your scores yourself with a score self-report system–but even those aren’t considered until they get the official one.

Basically, don’t worry about it. They won’t read the application 'till the official ones come in anyways, so it’s not like they’ll miss it.
