Hi, my first post here. I was wondering how appalachian state viewed homeschoolers and if there were any special admissions requirements for them. Does anyone know any homeschoolers currently going to App state? What did thye need to get in.

I realize this reply is a bit late, but hope that it helps.

Our family has homeschooled since 1992. My three older daughters have graduated college and my twin sons are seniors in high school this year. Two of my daughters applied to and were accepted at AppState. One enrolled and graduated with a degree in music performance. The other daughter was offered a dance apprenticeship with a professional company, which she accepted.

When the enrolled daughter first applied, she sat down with a rep from the admissions office and asked questions regarding her homeschool background and her eligibility for admission. The response from admissions was wonderful. He said that, although they had a handful of homeschool applicants compared to traditional applicants, the number was growing and that the school welcomed them because they realized that the homeschool applicants did extremely well at the university.

He went on to patiently answer her questions, taking her seriously, and encouraging her to come to the school, which she did. Her experience at AppState was incredible, I might add, since her professors have continued to stay in touch since her graduation and were ultimately responsible for giving her references for her current teaching position at a music school.

Thanks for the response. It gives me a lot of hope that I'll get into Appalachian State.

C'mon...ASU is too easy to get in! Don't be so worried..you should be fine! best of Luck!
