Appalachian State transfer?

Hello! I'm a sophomore at VCU and looking at transferring to Appalachian State next fall (2012). Has anyone done this, or know anything about it? My high school grades were average, but I had a lot of extracurricular things like volunteering and I had a good SAT score. After my first year I have a 3.0 GPA (bad first semester - joined a sorority. I have since terminated). I still volunteer and I'm a member of Green Unity where we do community clean-ups and such. Can anyone give me any information about AppState? It looks perfect for me.

Any information helps, again. Thanks.

Can someone give me input? I now have a 3.3 GPA and an internship with Sierra Club. Chances?

I’m also transferring to ASU in the Fall! I applied last Fall with a 2.8 GPA and lots of volunteer work. I had 2 letters of recommendation and made sure that I answered the essay question to help increase my chances. I talked to admissions counselors though and they said that, as a transfer student, generally if you have a 2.0 gpa then you should be able to get in. I’d apply as soon as possible though because they accept on rolling basis so it’s like a “first come, first serve” thing.

Good luck!! (:

Oh, and also…the university just announced a new program for transfer students. It’s a learning community, which means that transfer students can actually get on campus housing! I don’t know if you’re interested in living on or off campus, but I do know it’s supposed to be a lot easier to meet people as a transfer student if you live in the dorms. It’s also apparently one of the nicest dorms on campus.

Thank you so much, that’s great to hear!! Any other tips for the essay?
