I'm attending Stanford next year, and i just viewed the amount of aid Stanford will give me.... $0!!! Is it possible to appeal the decision?

If you're choosing between Stanford and peer schools such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, or MIT that gave you more financial aid, you may be able to bargain with the financial aid office. Otherwise, you would need some justification such as change in financial situation, family health, etc.

But given Stanford's generous financial aid policy, it's unlikely you could do better elsewhere.

they have a request for revision form in the handbook that the FA office sends along with the the fin. aid offer...you can use that, and also possibly speak to them personally...

same boat as you. my family makes under 100K but our assets are worth so much that we got NOTHING.

ugh, it totally sucks, but i don't really know what reason i could give for asking for more.

hope it works out for you.

If you're a really rich boy, I doubt it would help you. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. They might be a bit lenient if you're a really strong candidate for their school.

oknow124 shut up. you've been spamming the whole board with that crap.

tigerpoo, gosh how much assets do your parents have that caused $0?
your parents are making less than 100k right? I am worried now that we applied for FA late and are waiting for the package. We do have assets but lot of loan. we make around 100k. will this lead to $0 FA from Standford?
I am very very concerned now. Any comments form anyone will be appreciated

J mom, my family does have assets, and the overall income is above $150,000. yet, we still qualified for financial aid. i think that tigerpoo had HUGE assets. don't worry too much about it right now; decide if you should worry or not when you get your financial aid packet.

thanks drpepper :-)

drpepper, i sent you a PM
