So… I just got rejected from UMD and I see there is an Appeal Request form on their website https://admissions.umd.edu/apply/appealrequests.php
It says these are extremely rare to be considered, but has anybody had success with this? How did they go about doing it?
As you said, they’re extremely rare.Typically you have to have some new information or a compelling situation to be considered, and even then, it’s rare.
I do have some new information that is potentially compelling. I am going to check with some people I know if it’s as compelling as I think it is… I am curious though if anybody knows someone who has been successful with this. It would be helpful to get an idea of what specific things UMD is open to reconsidering.
I don’t know of any successful admissions appeals, just programmatic appeals.
While I can’t answer your questions, I can say that before you consider starting the process, is this definitely where you would commit to? I would be sure of that before taking the time to try.
I don’t know if you are IS or OOS, but in my personal opinion, if you are OOS, I am not sure you have a leg to stand on.
I am in state. This is definitely where I want to commit to - I’m not going to go into detail on a public forum but there is a likely possibility that I will be working on assisting research at UMD in coming months and I am positive UMD would be the best option for my career goals. Either way, I am most likely going to apply to transfer at some point but it can’t hurt to try.
Absolutely! Best of luck to you!
