to appeal or not to appeal ?

I was accepted to umd college park for spring admission. THis came as a surprise becuse my friend who has lower stats than me got accepted. I went to my guidance counselor for more information about the freshman connection program because maryland is one of my first choice colleges and i was considering the program. Through the course of talking to their admissions counselor we discovered that they never recevied my SAT scores, just my ACTs. My SATs are much higher than my ACTs and if they had gotten them i probably would have gotten in, but because of a mess up with college board they never did. The counselor at UMD said that i could submit an appeal on the basis of new academic information and she would talk to her boss about he chances of it working and call my counselor and me back. However she never did. We called again after waiting for two days and were told to talk to the admissions counselor in charge of appeals. We called and were told she wasnt in and we were given her email. We emailed and havent gotten a response in almost two weeks. I called back on tuesday and was again told that she wasnt available to talk to me. Since then i have gotten accepted to my other top pick, UCONN, with a $12,000 a year scholarship. It makes me wonder if all of this trouble at UMD is even worth it. I dont want to give up hope but the admissions department at UMD has proven very difficult and I'm tired of them telling me they will give me mor einformation and never replying. It's frustrating. So now that my very very long boring story is over if you're still reading this; What do you think my chances of my appeal being successful are? and also, If I am accepted for the fall, will i be able to be admitted to scholars or honors or receive any scholarship money?

Here are my Stats if it helps

So, If you bothered to read all of this i would really appreciated the advice of the college confidential community! XOXO

Sorry i forgot to mention i am OOS-Pennsylvania and I applied to communication sciences and disorders

You’re stats are good. I can tell you that the admissions department is NOT singling you out. It is a VERY busy time of year here on campus between seniors needing transcripts for jobs and graduation and a million and one parents/prospective freshman calling the office. I had a similar problem when I applied to Rutgers (my 2nd choice) and never got through. If MD is your top choice and you really want to go here, don’t give up. Calls are better than e-mail usually even if you get put on hold. Offices open at 8:30 and close at 5 in the admissions building. Try calling close to opening or around like 2 when they aren’t as swamped as other times. I know some people in freshman connection and its not that bad, you make friends. You would also need to talk to someone in financial aid office regarding scholarships because admissions will probably direct you there anyway because they don’t really have any control over that. Hope this helps

Thanks! Jenyjoe this is very helpful ! I gues ill just keep trying to see if I can get anywhere with an appeal

No problem! Good luck!
