Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. My sons number 1 choice school is University of Michigan and we are OSS. We got our FA package and it was not as we hoped. Total was about 13,000 in aid. My son also got into 2 other CSS profile schools. Boston College came in with 34,000 in aid and University of Richmond with 44,000 in aid. I already sent in an appeal letter and would if it would be wrong to send copies of other schools offers to Michigan.
Thanks.

The above is from the UMich financial aid webpage. It clearly states that UMich does NOT guarantee to meet full need for out of state students. Both Boston College and U of Richmond do meet full need of all accepted students. I’m not sure UMich will consider the awards of these other schools that guarantee to meet need with UMich does not guarantee to do so for OOS students.

Having said that…nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you want them to consider the offers from the other schools, you will have to SHOW them the offers from the other schools.

To be honest, given the policy above, I would prepare myself for the probability that they will not increase your aid.

Thanks Thumper… I knew Michigan did not meet 100% need… but I guess I was just hoping for something better… I did hand in CSS in November and did my FASFA on Jan 1st… I did not think they were going to come in with money that BC and Richmond did… but I will admit I was surprised it was so low given that college board and college data said they meet 90% of need for all freshman… wish I read their website first and maybe i would not have been so let down…Live and Learn for me… Thanks…
