Appealing (huge improvement in Senior year)

Has anyone had experience with appealing to colleges? I've applied to most of the UC's and a few private colleges, but so far, it's not looking good.

There are tons of students who appeal, but I'm hoping my circumstances will distinguish me from those just whining that they didn't get into their top choice.

I was diagnosed with ADD at the end of my Junior year. Up until then, my average GPA was around 2.6. But after being diagnosed and prescribed medication, I've matured and completely changed (I explained this in essays). I've improved to a 3.25 UW/3.75 W GPA for my 1st semester of Senior year.

Except for the private colleges, the UC's probably won't see my Senior grades. I plan to maintain/improve my GPA through 2nd semester and appeal, with my Senior improvement being the main argument.

Any thoughts?

That could definitely work.

Is having ADD a legit reason for grades dropping? Becuase I belive I may have it and my cumulative GPA right now is at 2.9 If i was tested and found that I do indeed have ADD and have a killer senior year, would this help me get into a good school? At doctor visits in the apst they have told me it is a definite possibility that I have ADD but i have never been tested for it

It should be a good enough reason to explain poor grades. It's hard to say that having a huge improvement, after being diagnosed and prescribed medication, isn't related to ADD.

For example, if you went from having a 2.5 GPA for 3 years, to a 4.00 Senior year, there has to be SOME sort of explanation, unless you're secretly a genius and never tried hard :O

I'm hoping this will convince a few schools to reconsider. I'm sure that my low GPA (2.65ish) is the reason I'll be getting rejected. The rest of my app was pretty solid (2020 SAT, passionate EC's, good essays)
