Hello. Unfortunately I was not admitted into USC Class of 2022. However, I would like to appeal my decision. I have a 4.5 GPA, 1560 SAT, and somewhat above average extracurriculars. I was hoping to include in my appeal how my grandfather passed from a very rare disease, and how I’m hoping to study that disease and help find a cure at USC. I know it is not the strongest argument, but my stats are good. Do you have any advice on what to include in the appeal? Also, do you know how often USC appeals are given? Do I have a chance?
Most of the students applied there have good stat too and many, if not most, with the same stat as you were rejected too. You may try but it is not worth to spend any additional effort in it. Appealing a decision is even much harder than the original application.
It doesn’t hurt. If you don’t submit it, then the answer will be final. If you do submit it, then at least you know you gave it another shot. It’ll give them another chance of looking over your profile and see if they missed anything.
I do agree with @billcsho about the amount of applicants with the similar stats as yours, but that shouldn’t prevent you from going forward with it. It may be difficult to do it, but it’ll put your mind at ease.
They say 1000 appeal, less than 20 were successful with their appeal last year. It should contain new information that was not in your application already.
