Appeals 2012

After 7 months of stress and anxiety and a few denials because of my daughter’s situation, I am SO SO SO happy to report that her SDSU appeal was accepted! Her portal changed this morning, exactly 5 weeks after her appeal was received. Just yesterday I had mostly given up hope, figuring (total conjecture on my part) she must have been put on some kind of wait list and we wouldn’t hear until after May 1, and then it would most likely be a No, because of the status of wait lists these days.

I sincerely hope anyone else who submitted an appeal with SDSU as their first choice gets similar good news very soon. Fingers crossed for you…

Parent10 - ahhhhhhhhh!!! Soooooo excited for you! Yeah!

@ m9summer, how did u find out that you got in?? did u check your portal or they sent you a reply in the mail??

@ Parent10 congratulations! :D

ok… so i just called SDSU Admissions and they said that transfers will be notified after may 1st and if it’s good news, your portal will change and you’ll get a letter in the mail.

I appealed, and got rejected, again :(

@nick, what was the basis for your appeal?

OMGGGGGGG!! My appeal has been approved! I’m in I’m in I’m in!! I’m so happy right now. Appeals are really worth a try!!!

@Mariagoestocal - SO happy for you!! When I didn’t see any more postings on this thread I was afraid it was bad news. It’s a good lesson in persistence.

@Nickkwoodd - What can I say, that really sucks. Please don’t take it personally - these acceptances & denials certainly have a random, unexplainable element to them. I wish you great success where ever you do end up.

I ammmm sooo angry with SDSU I have a 3.94 gpa and met all of my requirements and I was denied yet I got into UCSB. This doesn’t make any sense. I completed my appeal package in March and I have been waiting 2 months!! I called them and they said a month ago that they came to a decision and it would be in the mail soon. I waited 3 more weeks and then emailed them and they told me that no decision has been made. This is just confusing and I think they are just waiting for me to stop bugging because nothing has changed on my webportal. Their website says they will notify appeal decisions by mail but do they do this for denials as well?! HELP. I feel like they didn’t even look at my appeal. It’s probably on a desk somewhere. lol

How did they notify you? By email, mail, or phone? I’m still waiting.

For us, my daughter’s portal changed and then a few days later we received a letter in the mail. If you call I’m sure they’ll let you know if your appeal is still in process. Hopefully you’ll get some good news soon!

@ashbash3: are you a resident of San Diego? If not, San Diego residents get priority.

That sucks, you should continue trying. I got into UCD and UCI, but i knew some friends that got into UCSC and UCSB that got denied at SDSU. I guess they are really stepping up the academics. What is your major?

@red619 What were their stats? major?
Can’t believe SDSU is this difficult now. Craziness.

I dont remember his SAT’s, but he had a 3.85 weighted gpa and he applied for computer science. I applied for the aerospace engineering department and i got CR:550, Math:640 ,writting:450 on SAT’s with a 3.9 weighted gpa. I got credit for AP physics c, Ap bio, Ap spanish, and AP calc bc and some film class i took during my summer before freshmen year. We where both from the san diego serving area so i was surprise he didn’t get in. I feel like he made a mistake in his application. My cousin from LA applied and he was also denied, but he got into UCR,UCSC and UCSB. CR:600,Math:550 don’t remember writing score. He passed a couple AP’s as well. It is harder for people outside the San diego area just keep trying maybe there was a mistake.
