Admission officers do not see your income. It is not a part of their decision. Not even a little bit. They don’t see it. Your financial situation has no impact on your admission at all.

not to sound paranoid, but how do you know this exactly? is there some legal document stating this somewhere on UC site?

Okay awesome. I get it now. Im at 68,000 income so I’m assuming I might get some grants. If not, still happy with whatever I get. Good luck everyone!

Thanks Colors and Kings your answers were hella helpful.

And, SFkid you are starting to sound paranoid. Just saying…

Financial Aid DOES NOT affect admissions right? They are two separate processes?

@ CheddarGoldfish

Exactly, they are two completely separate processes.

Alright, thanks LAforlife :)

Do you know if it will be a problem if I reported a different income than on my application? I initially put my family income of 70k combined (mom+dad) and 4 people, but my parents are separated. I had to file under my dad since I could not file them together since they don’t file taxes together (didn’t know this prior to filing FAFSA) and the income is significantly lower since it’s not a combined income. Will this become a problem if my FAFSA doesn’t match with my app? I am just wondering.

If your FAFSA figure is correct, you have nothing to worry about. They use the number you gave on the app for statistics. When they see your FAFSA, they will solely use it to determine financial aid, scholarships, grants, etc.

@chedder

Just change the numbers on the FAFSA site according to your guardian that has custody of you.

Dude you are tripping. I have an EFC of 0 (doesn’t mean I am poor) and not worried in the slightest about how that could possibly effect my admissions.

@LA Thanks! Most helpful information I’ve gotten all day
@Lookin4ward I will use my dad’s info! I kind of live with both so I will just pick one since my dad has his taxes done already

No problem :)
