I'm starting to fill out my UC and CSU application and they ask for income... Does income affect your chances at getting accepted? I noticed its on both CSU and UC application this year

I don’t believe so. If anything, it will determine your eligibility for the application fee waivers.

Since the UC application also serves as your application for scholarships you must provide financial information. As Koreo mentioned this in no way, shape, or form affects your chances of acceptance or denial.

All the best

I didn’t put my financial info

The income information is not required. You should put in your income if you are from a low-income family since socioeconomic situations are considered. Having a high income does not affect your application in any way.

eh you can’t be too sure about that. They might say they’re need blind but all the admissions decisions happen behind close doors. Just because they say they’re need blind doesn’t mean they actually are.

Consider this. The state of California is broke, and they hardly have any money. They’re gonna prefer to admit the students that won’t need a lot of financial aid (in other words, students with higher family incomes). If they’re gonna admit students with a lower family income, then either the school will have to give them a lot of financial aid (very hard for them to do at this point) or the student will reject the school’s admission offer due to not getting enough financial aid (and this will lower the school’s yield).

I’m not saying that you won’t get accepted if your family income is under 6 figures, but it just makes it a little harder. Likewise, you won’t be guaranteed admission just because your parents make $200K. It just will be a little easier.

I’m not filling out mine (due to laziness)
