I have been holding off posting because I don't feel that I can adequately get across what I would like to about this wonderful school. My D is a freshman at Rice now and I have NEVER seen her so happy. She loves:

and anything and everything else associated with Rice. She has met her first real boyfriend. She doesn't have time for us at all (which is good for her, not so good for us). I agree that her happiness has a lot to do with the residential college system. She has made really close friends, all of which continue to surprise and impress her (being from a REAL small town).. She loves the diversity and the opportunities shes had so far to be actively involved on campus. This was not her first choice - but once she visited on Owl Weekend it became her first choice and she NEVER looked back.. didn't even bother visiting some of the other wonderful schools that accepted her. She called from Houston and said "mom, this is where I am going to go to school". Rice was wonderful with the parents during the hurricane threat, keeping us posted every step of the way. The parents get newsletters and email of campus happenings and events and news. I, too, have been made to feel a part of this wonderful university. SO, to all of you applicants out there.. good luck and if you decide to go to Rice I have no doubt you will never regret that decision.
