application audit google question

Stanford now does a percentage of application audits to reduce fraud. Does anyone who has admissions experience know if they would do a quick google search on students look up major claims which should be easily verifiable? If they do, would they likely plug in name and highschool or name and award/honor/sport claim?

I'm wondering because a quick google search would likely help D, but there are several people with same name, one with facebook and twitter feed that keep entries high on google and another with an online funeral memorial book that also keeps entries high on results.

Sorry if this sounds tech naive . . . it is ;-)

People who would use google also know that people of similar names exist as well. If something negative came up, i’m sure they would re-check. I think your worrying is unwarranted.

FYI: my namesake is a Taiwanese pop star/movie actor. He and his fan websites flood any quick search of my name…

Thanks, I was actually wondering even more about the chances of them doing a quick “audit” and finding the good stuff amidst the random same name results.

I would think that the ‘easiest’ first step would be for the school to call or write your GC and verify your activities. To the extent that something is done outside the school, they might check with an organization listed. (Example, if you say you volunteer 15 hours a week at the Archie Manning Youth Center, they could call the youth center and find out.

I’ll let the question go after this, it’s more curiosity than critical - but to clarify . . .
I’m talking about really large claims, like things done on a national scale. I won’t specify to protect privacy, but if D listed ‘USA underwater basketball team’ or Broadway cast of ‘next hit musical’ that is not at all school based but could be easily searched to verify - might admissions do a quick search and if so would they check out other related positive search results?
I was wondering if someone with behind the scenes experience or insight might know.

Anyway, thanks and I’ll let it go now - just curious.
