12:00am EST or my local time? (My timezone is GMT+2)

You can submit up until 11:59:59 PM January 1, Eastern Standard Time.

Do yourself a favor and don’t try to submit everything at the very last minute.

Did I understand correctly that if my time zone is plus for example 8 hours, I can submit my application up until 12:59 AM January 2? Does this only apply to MIT or also to other universities? And if yes, what about music supplements? Thanks!

@Rotation:
Whatever your time zone, just be sure to submit before it becomes January 2nd, 2011 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Everybody in the world has another 13 hours and ~20 minutes to submit the MIT application. It must be submitted by midnight Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5) no matter where you live.

Thank you for your responses! If I plan to send in a music supplement or fax extra documents, will it also be due to January 1st EST (since the date on the email will be January 2)?

You must submit a music supplement by the same deadline, as stated here: [MIT Admissions: The Freshman Application](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/apply/the_freshman_application/index.shtml#musicart). Better get cracking!

Why do you want to submit it so late? I submitted mine yesterday around 6 pm and I feel great.
