Application Deadlines

yeah, thats the reason I hav started the thread''fee waiver, teacher's evaluation form, counsellor's recommendations..''.....the expenses are very high and it will be 3 SEPARATE forms to be sent to the unis by COURIER...(sheesh)..

and I am applyin to about 10 unis that means 10$310(this is gov cost privates like DHL costs 21$ per post!!)...just for postages.....and the money conversions is flyin at the moment!

You need a good calculator here....

shove it all in one big envolope.......thats what i'll do

well, wat about the confidential-ness of those evaluations and recommendations?

Ok this is what I'm doing:

I'm applying to 6 common app schools and 3 non-commonapp schools.

I gave my 2 teachers 1 copy of the commonapp-teachers rec each, and 3 different ones for the 3 noncommonapp schools.
I did the same with my 'counselor'.

Then, I told them all to give it back to my vice principal who does all this. And I gave my vice principal the envelopes with the names of each school and their addresses (without stamps) and blank sticky labels.
I will be giving the international finances sheets to him sometime next week.

Sometime next week, I'm gonna give him my finances sheet and he's gonna put them in the envelopes, and he's gonna put in the teachers rec and counselors rec and everything.
I'll just be sitting across him, making sure he puts in the right things. He said that he'll show me a bit of the paper, to make sure it's the right school's form and everything: I suggested this, because I was all paranoid that he might put the wrong things in lol

Then, he will seal the envelopes, and then place a sticky white blank label on top on the seal. And he will sign his name on it.
And he'll give all the envelopes to me, so I can send it through DHL FedEx or whatever I want.

I think it's much cheaper and less of a hassel (like, 1 envelope per school) - and the colleges will still get the confidentuality.

yeah do what nofx is doing
or what i'm doing is just asking my teachers/counsellor to return the sealed envolopes to me, then i put them all in one big envolope and send them.

Hmmm....,Nice and DAMN good advice..;)...
Nofx:so,ur counsellor is sealin only ONE envelop per college(everything in it!+the fee waiver?)..

Yup. (Well, he's not my counselor - my counselor's a lazy bum)

I'm not applying for a feewaiver but I'm sure you wont have any problems inserting a little feewaiver note here and there.

Thats a good thing....now wat I am gonna do is take BIG envelop and put all those +fee waiver.....and get it seald....as for commonapp...I'll get them copied(as it will be printed) and get the sign or watever it is on each 1.....that will reduce the work and save LOTS of time n money....

only clarification:

Postmark : when you submit ur application to the postoffice.. postmark date is decided by the stamping date on ur post which is at the time u submit ur apps and not when they are sent..

Another remark: if your apps was sent on a Post mark date of 2nd jan for a 31st dec deadline , dont bother.. they are not there to kill you for sending a few days late and they dont even bother .. infact when you come to know of admision process youll realise that admission officers never even knw when ur application reached them..

apps arent even read in january ( except for very very very few places)..
january is solely for processing apps and reading starts mid febraury to march end and then end march weeks are for the decision finalization.

BUT do send them early or else ull be waiting like for a month just to get a confirmation of ur reciept by the university which can get frustating..

also sending later causes greator probelms from univ's side as in the later stages they deal with thousands of apps and quite regularly misplace parts of ur apps which u will have to deal then in mid february in their misssing item emails... so better avoid those and send early.

but it will have NO impact on ur decision what so ever

SM

thanks SM..that clears a lot of things
