Hi everyone, I've long since finished my applications to my other schools, but the last one left remaining is GT. The reason I keep putting it off is because of the essay which is along the lines of:

Disccuss a cultural, social, political, or intellectual topic that you have explored outside of school and explain how it has shaped you into who you are today.

Now my commonapp essay is about Golf, and how it has shaped me and how it reflects my personality. My question, does my essay fit the bill of a social "topic" or do I need to try and come up with something else.

Disccuss a cultural, social, political, or intellectual topic that you have explored outside of school and explain how it has shaped you into who you are today.

that was what you got? I got the if you could delay school for a year, what would you do. anywho, you can talk about golf, but idk how good of a topic that would be for you. I mean maybe it did shape you a lot, but that's just something nobody except for you and your friends and family knows. If it were me, I think i'd talk about bussiness's negative effects in third world countries making me more aware, but that's just me. I think that if you can find enough within the Golf topic go for it, if you can only find a little, then I think you should talk about something you know about that can help you. good luck

I did my other apps months ago as well haha.

I ended up using my gold essay because i think the essay actually adresses the topic really well. I don't think they'll get so picky as to analyze the meaning of the word "topic" haha.
