For just about every private boarding school, there are essays needed as a part of the application. I completed those, and thought they came out well, but I don’t want to put them on here due to them being quite personal. So my question is: would anyone be willing to share their essays? I’d like to see how mine stack up compared to others, especially those applying this year as well as those who have already been admitted. Anything would be great, even if it’s just part of your response, and I would love it if you could tell me what schools you applied to/are attending. Thanks!
Why would anyone share their essay(s) when you state up front that you aren’t willing to share yours? They are all personal – and should never be shared in a public forum.
I recognize this, but this website is meant to be anonymous, so I figured someone would be willing to share. Besides, many people have blogs, which can give personal information, so this is really no different than that. And if no one is willing to provide their essay, then let me ask another question: is there anyone out there who feels like they did extremely well on their essays? Anyone who feels bad about them? I feel okay but it would be nice to know how other people feel as well. Thanks
You are not allowed to post link to your personal blogs or any other personal information including the ones in your essays. I have done it and was warned.
Oh, I had no idea! Thanks for letting me know. Sorry
Don’t worry about how yours compare to others! If you’re happy with them, leave it at that. Relax and try to keep your mind off this process now, until March 10th. You worked hard and I’m sure that you presented your best self - stay positive!
Thank you so much, that means a lot. While the application and everything that went along with it was difficult, I think the hardest part is going to be the next six weeks and trying not to think about it. I just wish they could tell me sooner!! But for now, I have school and sports to keep me busy so let’s hope March comes fast. Thanks again
There are many components to your application besides your essays. If a schools admits you or doesn’t, it won’t be solely because of your essays.
Good luck and try keep your mind off admissions until M10!
@GMC2918 I’ve heard that a lot lately “just relax and wait for March 10th”, but I CAN’T. I am so anxious and nervous about if I did good or bad, it’s literally all I can think about. I applied to Andover, St. Paul, and Deerfield for 10th grade (reapplying to Andover and Deerfield) and I’m really nervous. I’m just nervous because I scored low on my SSAT (didn’t get in the 90th percent tile) and I feel that’s going to turn the AO’s off to me immediately. Even though, I feel that everything else I did an exemplary job on, besides the fact I got two B’s this semester.
@2001JET good luck
@2001JET I’m sure you will be fine. I’ve been told over and over that they look at the whole person, not just the test scores, so I’m positive the same will ring true for you as well. Like the person above me said, good luck!
I know that it’s easy for me to tell you to relax until March 10th! But it’s important to try to live in the moment and appreciate where you are right now. Take advantage of this time to enjoy your current friendships, classes/teachers, and of course your family. When you start to think about March 10th, switch gears and think about something positive that’s happening today, or tomorrow. March 10th will arrive, and you will be fine no matter what the results are - I’m sure of it!!!
GMC - Alright, I’ll take your advice and do my best to keep my mind off of it! It’ll be a challenge, but I’ll get through it, and I’m sure the others will as well. Thanks!
