D has a 3.57 -will apply in august - she qualifies for academic scholarship with a 3.5 and 32 ACT- GC said that they resend GPA at Xmas and end of senior year so she must keep the 3.5 to keep the scholarship- she is taking 2 ADV and 1 AP - is this all correct?

At my S’s school they send the current GPA at the time you apply and send another GPA at the end of the senior school year.

Is the college saying that she must keep the cum 3.5 GPA during her senior year to keep the scholarship that they’ve offered? Therefore, they want to see mid-year and year-end transcripts to make sure that your D still has the cum 3.5?

Are you concerned that her senior schedule will drop her GPA or what? Not sure what you’re asking. (is she only taking 3 classes senior year?)

GCs typically send 3 transcripts out per year to colleges–once with the application as part of the Secondary School Report, again usually by the end of February as part of the Mid-Year report which would include first semester grades and finally at the end of the year with the final grades and graduation information.

The college will control the parameters of her scholarship award. Most people are “awarded” a scholarship earlier in the year (so that you can map out your financial aid), but may very well have a caveat put in–“may be rescinded if XXXX”–for example, if final GPA drops below 3.5. You really need to check with the college to make sure you know what the details are–get information from the source.

Since your D is so close to the cut off line, you should make contingency plans that include not getting that scholarship. Also make sure to find out what the GPA requirements are to keep that scholarship in college. It is NOT that easy to keep up a high college GPA, so you need to be careful about planning for that money for all 4 years.

Thanks- will check and see with the colleges-
Mom2collegekids- I was just curious how the 3.5 works if it drops below 3.5 during the senior year

Does the college expect a weighted or unweighted GPA of 3.5?

Is this for Auburn? I didn’t know that Auburn will take back a scholarship during senior year.

Is your GC telling you that your child must maintain the 3.5 during senior year or is the college?
