<p>they probably use it to see if your ECs are related to your major and what not</p>
<p>Stanford does say that it'll admit you into the school as a whole, not to any particular major. I like this system more.</p>
<p>I think they just want the info for their own statistics. You don't declare a major till the end of your sophomore year.</p>
