Application mistake, please help?

Hi everyone, I made a big mistake and need to know if it's going to be a problem.

I went to the guidance office at my school to ask them what my GPA was, so I could put it on my Common App. Apparently I had a 3.57 Unweighted, so I put that in. Ive already submitted my app to at least one college, but I just realized that that was my GPA for this semester only, not my cumulative one.

It really sucks because I'm sure my actual GPA is higher than that, at least my Unweighted should be at least a 4.3, while now its not even a 4 I think.

First, was I supposed to put my Cummulative GPA? Im assuming I was, but if I already did it right, then this isn't an issue. Second, If I was supposed to, is there any way I can notify them that I need to change that detail, or will they notice it once they get my official transcript, or what?

Don’t worry. They will look at your transcript. That’s why they don’t even need you to input
all grades and classes one by one just like uc or state u do. If they find something major they need to calrify, they will contact your school conselor directly

Yes, the colleges rely upon the counselor-provided GPA, not the self-reported one. You might just send a polite email to admissions noting that you accidentally reported the wrong number. I think it would only be an issue if you reported a GPA that was much higher than what they school reported to them, and they think you are trying to con them.
