Application Picture

Creative analogy with the peaches, but when you're choosing fruit, you don't have to answer to anyone but yourself. Admission committees don't work that way.

There are exceptions to every rule, but if you're an admissions officer, you want to accept the best candidates, as demonstrated from their applications. Any photos they send are completely irrelevant. An admissions officer wouldn't be working in his or her own best interest if they took appearance into account. Remember that the apps are read by more than one person, some are discussed by the full committee. It's not a fool-proof system and there are some gut-feelings involved, but ultimately, you have to be ready to defend your decisions and if you allow those decisions to be colored by someone's senior portrait, then you're not doing your job.

Yeah but psychologically speaking, wouldn't the adcom give more leinancy to a better looking person without concsiously knowing that he's doing so?
