<p>Okay. So I mailed my application and tracked it to the admissions office. However, the online Common Application hasn't changed my status...is this expected? </p>
<p>Oh, and when are we supposed to get our PIN number to check on our acceptance/rejection? Will Rice send an email?</p>
<p>Relax and just wait. Admissions will let you know if they need anything.</p>
<p>I'm trying to relax! The wait has been harder than I thought it would be. I think my subconscious won't let go of the prospect that I won't get into Rice. </p>

<p>I just got an email from Rice telling me my sign-in and pin today! Finalmente.</p>

<p>I'm hoping that they'll update it when they decide to admit/reject/defer us. I really really really really really really don't want to wait until the fifteenth!</p>

<p>Oh, you couldn't possibly be as bad as me: I've been having nightmares about getting rejected, and I've had the same nightmare THREE times now (within the last five days - maybe it was the turkey I had...hmmm)! Also, I've made a list of reasons why Rice would accept or reject me, just to make sure that I had more positive reasons than negative ones, thus reassuring myself that being deferred to RD would probably be the worst that happens to me come December 15th. It's so agonizing! My other friend (she also applied ED), on the other hand, seems so calm. I don't know how she does it!</p>

<p>I posted this in another thread, as well, but I think it applies here:</p>
<p>I applied Interim Decision (which still existed way back when), got deferred to Regular Decision, got waitlisted, and eventually got in.</p>
<p>All the while I was waitlisted at three of my top four schools (including Rice) and rejected from the other.</p>
<p>And I wouldn't have traded that experience for anything. I appreciate Rice so much more since I almost didn't get in. Also, I got a phone call instead of a letter, which was really neat.</p>
<p>So there is absolutely no reason for you to agonize. You WILL get in to a good school, regardless of whether that school is Rice. In the meantime, enjoy your senior year and stop whining about how stressed you are on an internet message board.</p>
