just request an app. from them or get one from your guidance counselor. or just do it online.</p>

<p>I remember reading that to take the common app the school has to enforce affirmative action, and thank god the Chief is against that bullsht. The application is online and I remember filling mine out on like september 5th. There were like 4 short-answer essays I think.</p>
<p>UIUC does not take the common app. Its app usually comes out on-line in September; hard copies are also sent to Illinois high schools about that time but it prefers electronic application. It went from one essay to two essays starting last year -- a personal statement (whatever you want to say about yourself) and a professional statement (covers why you chose a major, what you want to accomplish, and similar) . Those should not change (when it had one essay it was always the same every year).</p>
